What do you remember about the Chateau Louise?
Remember this hotel/restaurant from the past? Out front was the Double Decker bus. Luckily it survived the fire as the fire was in the building.
If you have any Chateau Louise images to share please contact us.
The History of the Chateau Louise
Located on Illinois Route 31, this place was one of several fine dining restaurants in the Carpentersville area. They also housed a theatre on premises. Second City TV played there. Some of the players went to gain fame on Saturday Night Live. Also, the property had a hotel with an indoor pool.
Originally a 1927 barn, this complex is located in what most people assume is West Dundee. it was actually located in Sleepy Hollow. It was originally called the Sleepy Hollow Motel; it was built around that barn.
In the late 1950’s, Floyd Falese, a developer, added to the motel. The result was a luxury convention center. He named the property after the former farm owner. In its heyday, there was a disco, work out rooms, a 450 seat theater, English style pubs with German drinking slogans, and French style food in the restaurant and banquet hall. The inside of the building was designed with Swiss Chalet architecture.
