We bring back Memories you didn’t know you had

Did you ever eat at the Corner Cupboard in Barrington?

A favorite of Barrington’s businessmen. This was a place for all occasions.

If you have any Corner Cupboard images or menus to share please contact us.

The Corner Cupboard

Go out to Barrington (as some Carpentersville students do) and you would find this restaurant, cocktail lounge, and banquet hall. Food was served morning, noon, and night. They were located on Railroad Street in the downtown area. This restaurant dated back to 1947.

Owner by Willie and Jeanette Panker, they ran day-to-day operations. In the 1960’s, Willie was a VIP in Barrington. The city of Barrington lists this place as a retail store on the official records. There was a robbery in the 1970’s.

Jeanette passed away in 2003. Willie died (possibly) in 2005. It is known that he passed on after her and before their daughter (who passed in 2018).
