We bring back Memories you didn’t know you had

Do you remember the Fox Valley Rifle Range?

Many people have fond memories of going to the rifle range.  It was located on Bolz Road near Route 25, a few blocks from the house I grew up in located on Amarillo Court.  It was a public outdoor rifle, shotgun and handgun range.  Check out all of the Fox Valley Rifle Range images and files we have been collecting.

The Fox Valley Rifle Range

Originally opened in 1949 by John Smith and Herb Gromer, the range served shooters for over 30 years.  They had a modern gun shop located on the premises that featured new and used guns, ammo and reloading supplies.  There were experienced personnel to assist guests and they had shotguns and rifles available for rent.  They offered an annual range fee as well as a daily option.

The range would draw nearly a thousand hunters and target shooters on fall weekends.  The range had 150 firing points ranging from 50 ft. to 200 yards on over 1000 feet of firing line.
