Memoriam for George C. Henning Sr.
December 8, 1921- July 31, 1986

George, a long time Carpentersville resident, loved the area, it’s people and it’s peaceful way of life…

George was born in 1921, in Jamestown NY. He grew up in Kansas City MO attending the University of Kansas graduating with a Degree in Journalism. His career brought him to Chicago in the early 1950’s where he met and married Marian, the love of his life and Mother to his 4 children, George Jr., Catherine, Richard and Joseph.

Carpentersville became their home in the early 1960’s with George taking an Editor position with The Elgin Daily Courier News. There he he worked with the Worlds Wire Services to bring the news of the day to the Fox Valley. George also wrote and edited the “Weekly School Page”, there he highlighted local High School Academic and Sports activities.

George was active in St. Monica’s Catholic Church, serving as an Usher and member of the Holy Name Society. He was an avid Cubs Fan and enjoyed long walks with the family dog.

And finally his Labor of Love… George was an Aviator, an FAA Certified Private Pilot who loved flying and loved sharing his passion for the sky with others. He would often take entire family’s flying, many for the first time ever, to see their home from the air, flying over the beautiful Fox Valley and share his unique view of God’s Handwork with others. He loved it so…

Dad left us back in 1986, and while we miss him everyday, we recall his favorite Bible verse….”My Fathers Mansion has many rooms and I go to prepare a place for you…”

We Love You Dad…
