Robert Issel wrote:

Those of you fortunate enough to have met my mom will recall how vibrant and friendly she was. My Mom was my best friend. Back in the late 80’s, and prior to my 30th birthday, I wrote a poem about my Mom that was published in a local magazine. The poem is entitled “Life Long Love”. I read that poem 30 years later to all that were in attendance at the surprise 80th birthday party myself and my family gave our Mom back in 2017. Everything I wrote about my Mom in that poem 30 years ago resonates today with my sisters and myself. We couldn’t have asked for a better “Friend” then the Mother we were blessed with.

In the wee hours of that morning, I softly recited that poem into her ear as she slept. She passed very peacefully shortly thereafter.

LIFE LONG LOVE by Robert Issel

‘She is a woman who is very special, it seems like everything she does is right.  Why ever since I can remember, she has been a large part of my life.

For nearly 30 years now she’s remembered all my special days with presents, cards, and phone calls, showing her love in so many ways.

Looking back on my boyhood years…. and the many roles that she would fill, from nurse, to teacher…and friend, whatever my need she provided the skill!

Now as a man I have found….Through life’s experience I’ve discovered, the only truly unconditional love is a child’s love from their Mother.
