We bring back Memories you didn’t know you had

What was a Meadowdale Christmas like in the olden days?

When did you first get to see the Meadowdale Christmas parade?  If you lived in Carpentersville, any time since the late 1950’s, it was probably an annual event. The window displays, Wieboldt’s, Santa and Mrs. Claus, sugar cookies, and all the decorations.  If you have any images from a Meadowdale Christmas please contact us.

A Meadowdale Christmas

I remember the little building outside of Wieboldt’s that usually held some sort of seasonal display, but in December it was where you would find Santa Claus.  Christmas music was playing in all of the stores.  All of the stores had window displays and Christmas decorations.  The arrival of Santa at the shopping center every year was a huge occasion, sometimes he even arrived by helicopter.

The Christmas parade was a popular event that would draw 100’s and sometimes 1000’s of people.  Local organizations, businesses and clubs would build floats and enter them in the contest to try and win a prize.  What are your memories of Christmas at the Meadowdale Shopping Center?
