Did you go to Oak Ridge School?

Oak Ridge School

This school was located on Lake Marion Rd near Tulsa Road. The building was erected in the 1950’s.  It closed in 1982.  Since no one would buy the building, it was torn down.  It cost too much to rehab it.

The only offer to buy was from a company who wanted to turn it into a warehouse.  Carpentersville officials would not approve the rezoning.  In 1989, the district did not want to demolish it at that time.

In 1997, trailers were installed, since the building was not suitable for use.  It became an alternative school in D300, using the same name.  That school moved to 300 Carpenter Blvd.

We are always trying to add to the content of our website.  If you have any images, class photos or memory books to share please contact us.
