St Catherine School

Welcome to the Carpentersville Memories St Catherine School Page.  Our goal is to bring back some fun memories of growing up in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

We bring back Memories you didn’t know you had

Did you go to St Catherine School?

St Catherine School

This is short for St. Catherine of Siena. The religion practiced is Roman Catholic of the Rockford diocese. The church and school is located in West Dundee. The grade levels are pre-K through 8th grade. The first church was located at 425 Highland St. in West Dundee. That building dates back to 1912. The school started in 1927. This building is the current home for the Dundee Township Historical Society.

The ‘new’ church was built in 1965. The location is near the corner of IL routes 72 and 31. It was built at the same time as the school. However, funding ran out and the church was not able to be built at that time. The gym was repurposed for use as the church. Eighth graders were bussed to Dundee Middle for gym and science. 1984 saw the church built. Actually two. The gym was able to claim its original space.

The school serves children from the Dundee community as well as the surrounding areas such as: Sleepy Hollow, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Gilberts, Elgin, Pingree Grove and Hampshire. The mascot is the Spartan and the school colors are gold and blue.
