Did you go to St John’s Lutheran School?
St John’s Lutheran School
This Lutheran, Missouri synod school is located in Elgin on Spring Street. They are celebrating 154 years in 2020. This is another Pre-K through 8th grade school. The school started in 1966 as a small wooden building. It housed only one classroom. It has grown by adding a gym and current technology (i.e. Wi-Fi, computers, tablets, etc.).
At one point the school wasn’t used (1874-1876). It was sold. A pastor (in 1876) resurrected the school. There have been several expansions. A major building expansion happened in 1956. This added a lunchroom, shop classrooms and two other classrooms, a library, faculty room, health room, and administrative offices. Kindergarten was started in 1946.
The Cougar is their mascot. The school colors are gold and blue.
