Carpentersville Memories

In Honor and Memory of Paul Folster

 September 28, 1935 – December 8, 2023

Paul A Folster Sr, 88, passed away on December 8, 2023 with his family by his bedside. Paul was born on September 28, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Carl and Theresia Folster.

He married his beautiful wife, Margaret “Peggy” Lubien on July 4, 1959 so there would always be fireworks on their anniversary. They moved to Carpentersville IL in August 1961. As his family grew, so did the house he lived in.

He was always making changes to the house by adding a rec room with a beautiful hand-made fireplace and made certain that by the time his children became teenagers he built them their own bedrooms. Paul invested his time and energy into Carpentersville. He opened Paul’s Sausage Shop in November 1964 and added Paul’s Catering years later. Paul also served his beloved town by being a Village Trustee serving 20 years. He was proud of accomplishment while serving Carpentersville.

Paul loved to travel with his wife and his children. He traveled by camper, by boat, and by plane. He was an avid Cubs fan and when he was young, he and his brother would help clean up and would get a free ticket to the next game. In the 70’s, he chartered a bus, bought Cubs tickets and made sandwiches for his customers. They were at the Ken Holtzman no-hitter and Ernie Banks 500th home run. He loved the Chicago Bears too. The 1985 Super Bowl was a pot banging event. Paul was so proud of all his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren. He was always there to lend a helping hand even if you didn’t ask for help.

Paul and Peggy spent the last 3 years at The Greens in Elgin. They wanted to be close to most of their children. Once Paul got settled at The Greens, he became active as the Chairman of the Music Committee, the Food Committee, and the 10 o’clock coffee hour.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Curt, and infant grandson Daniel.
Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy, his 6 children, Paul Jr (Kay), Peter (Marilyn), Suzi Larson, Jean Boston (Mark), Margie Chamberlain (Rick), Alicia Bergman (Rich), his niece Joann Moore, his many grandchildren Eddie, Tyler (Ashley), Zanna (Lucas) Carlton (Ruthie), Kassi, Andrew (Anna), Geoffrey, Mackenzie “Mack”, (Autumn), Dillon “Madelynn”, Nicholas, Melanie, and his 5 great grandchildren, Ella, Tegan, Athen, Caden and Clara.
